Das Handbook of North American Indians ist die ethnologische Standardenzyklopädie zu den nordamerikanischen Indianern. Herausgeber ist die renommierte Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C.. Verantwortlich zeichnet William C. Sturtevant. Geschrieben ist es auf Englisch.

Das Werk ist aufgeteilt in zwanzig Bände, wovon die ersten 1978 erschienen. Sieben Bände stehen noch aus, Band 16 “Technology and Visual Arts” soll als nächster Band erscheinen.
